Hi! I'm Molly. In a past life, I taught middle school ELA, but I now work in education technology. I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Virginia with a semester-long detour at Brooklyn College. After a brief break from school, I returned to pursue my Masters of Arts in Teaching at the University of Georgia and graduated from the Secondary English Education program in May of 2017. I originally grew up in Maryland before my family moved to the Carolina coast. In my spare time, I like to read, bake, attempt to roller skate, doodle in Procreate, peruse Petfinder for my future dog, and daydream about running away to Maine. I use she/her pronouns and currently call Atlanta, Georgia, home.

I completed a two year program resulting in a Master of Arts in Teaching for Secondary English Education. Coursework covered educational theory, reading & writing instruction, young adult literature, specialized instruction, and more.
I completed a four year degree in Global Development Studies, an interdisciplinary program that touched on economics, history, education, and anthropology. I also received a minor in Global Studies in Education and was the first college student to graduate from U.Va. with a minor in education.
I attended Brooklyn College through their visiting student program while still a full time student at U.Va. I completed coursework in their Children's Studies program to build on what I had learned through the Curry School of Education.

I assist users on a daily basis by answering questions, investigating issues, and finding creative solutions. Additionally, I help manage the library of FAQs and coordinate creating new FAQs as needed, I handle investigating bugs on the site and passing documentation on to engineers, working with them to resolve issues, and I support the team by improving our internal documentation and processes. Outside of my role on product support, I provide feedback to writers on original content published on CommonLit, including both fiction and non-fiction, and I copy edit pieces to prepare them for publication. I audit our texts on specific topics to identify outdated texts or gaps in content, curating and commissioning work as needed to ensure the library is as useful as possible for teachers and students.
I created standards-aligned sixth grade English Language Arts units. These units include all the teacher-facing lesson plans as well as all student-facing materials needed to complete the unit. Both units required sticking to tight deadlines while adjusting to evolving guidelines. I also assisted with text selection.

I have created four slide deck series for use by teachers and librarians to encourage independent reading. So far, these series include Black Writer a Day, Asian Writer a Day, Queer Writer a Day, and Latinx Writer a Day. I am currently working on a comprehensive year round series featuring over 200 authors.

I also provided administrative support in the form of contacting donors, applying for grants, and file organization and data entry.
